World War II Pilot Celebrates 97th Birthday By Flying Again


DANVILLE, Va. (CBS) — Andy Waggoner was stunned by all the consideration when he arrived on the Danville, Virginia airport Saturday afternoon.

The World Warfare II vet is a former Navy pilot with a love of the sky.

Subsequent week he celebrates his 97th birthday.

In honor of the upcoming event, Waggoner and his spouse Ruth climbed right into a 4-seater aircraft and loved the sweeping views of the town under.

“I began flying once I was a junior in school, and I’ve been flying ever since,” stated Waggoner. “To me, it’s a really enjoyable second. when you take pleasure in flying.”

Waggoner declared the flight a hit, complimenting his pilot once they reached the bottom.

For the scholars on the aviation faculty, they are saying flying with a World Warfare II hero is one thing they’ll always remember.
