BERKELEY (AP) — College of California, Berkeley college students who invited Ann Coulter to talk on campus have filed a lawsuit towards the college, saying it’s discriminating towards conservative audio system and violating college students’ rights to free speech.
Harmeet Dhillon, a San Francisco lawyer who represents the Berkeley School Republicans, filed the lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Courtroom in San Francisco.
Dhillon can also be an RNC committeewoman from California.
Campus Republicans invited Coulter to talk at Berkeley this Thursday, however Berkeley officers knowledgeable the group final week that the occasion was being referred to as off for safety considerations.
After the college backtracked and provided an alternate date, Coulter has insisted that she plans to nonetheless come Thursday.
Coulter tweeted Monday that the lawsuit “calls for applicable & protected venue for my speech THIS THURSDAY.”
