Tim Tebow Heading To Mets’ Class A Team: Columbia Fireflies

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Tim Tebow is becoming a member of the Columbia Fireflies.

The previous Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback will begin his professional baseball season with the Mets’ Class A franchise in Columbia.

New York Mets supervisor Terry Collins introduced the transfer Monday.

The 29-yr-previous Tebow has been in spring coaching with the Mets and is hitting .235 with 4 hits in 17 at-bats. He’ll break camp the primary week in April and be a part of the Fireflies once they open play on April 6 in a 4-recreation collection with Augusta within the South Atlantic League.

Fireflies President John Katz expects Tebow so as to add additional buzz to the group and the town. The membership says the outfielder will put on his soccer quantity, No. 15, with the Fireflies.

Tebow signed with the Mets on Sept. eight and took part in three Florida Educational League video games. He performed in 19 contests within the Arizona Fall League.
