Jockey Robby Albarado to miss Kentucky Derby with broken ankle


LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Jockey Robby Albarado will miss the Kentucky Derby after breaking his left ankle in a driving accident at Keeneland.

Albarado was scheduled to journey J Boys Echo for coach Dale Romans within the Derby on Might 6.

He obtained harm after his horse stumbled at the beginning of a race Sunday at Keeneland, unseating Albarado on the turf. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays and additional analysis.

Agent Rob Ebanks says Albarado can be sidelined for a while.

Romans tweeted Sunday: “A miracle it wasn’t worse. Wishing greatest to Robby Albarado, his well being is 1st.”

The coach says he’ll talk about changing Albarado with the horse’s possession.

J Boys Echo gained the Gotham Stakes and completed fourth within the Blue Grass, his final begin earlier than the Derby.
