Hacker ‘Dark Overlord’ Threatens To Release Stolen Copies Of Hit Netflix Series

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) — A hacker claims to have stolen the upcoming season of Netflix’s hit collection “Orange Is The New Black,” and is asking for an unspecified ransom to withhold its launch on-line.

The hacker, who goes by the identify The Darkish Overlord, has already purportedly uploaded the primary episode to an unlawful file-sharing service. The Related Press couldn’t legally affirm the authenticity of that uploaded file.

New episodes of “Orange” are scheduled for official launch on June 9.

Netflix stated that a small manufacturing vendor that works with a number of main TV studios had suffered a breach. The Los Gatos, California, firm described it as an “lively state of affairs” that’s being investigated by the FBI and different authorities.

Pirated copies of “Orange” might dent Netflix’s subscriber progress.
