Fundraiser Underway After 3rd Arson Attack In 2 Weeks At Cat Shelters

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An arson hearth over the weekend destroyed the remaining shelters for a feral cat colony at Pier 70 alongside the Delaware River. Now, efforts are underway to boost cash to switch the shelters and add a safety system to catch the perpetrator.

Alexa Ahrem is with the Stray Cat Aid Fund. She says the weekend arson was the third one in as many weeks and destroyed the final shelters for a cat colony that has been there for many years. The Aid Fund has arrange a GoFundMe web page to pay for cameras, larger fences and higher shelters for the felines.

As for who did it…

“Some those that fish down there are speculating on who it could possibly be, as a result of there’s plenty of drug exercise round there. There’s speculations about it being individuals taking medicine and doing it, there’s hypothesis about youngsters however there’s completely no leads.”

The Aid Fund had already scheduled an enormous fundraiser for Nov. four which might pay for sterilizations, vaccinations and fostering for the cats. Now, the occasion will bankroll new shelters and different requirements that went up in smoke over the weekend.
