SACRAMENTO (AP) — The top of California’s water company says an emergency spillway on the Oroville Dam labored regardless of excessive erosion that led authorities to order almost 200,000 individuals to flee.
Division of Water Assets Appearing Director Invoice Croyle briefed a state legislative committee Tuesday on the state’s response to extreme injury on the nation’s tallest dam.
Croyle’s assertion that the spillway labored stunned Republican Assemblyman James Gallagher, who represents Oroville. Gallagher says the sudden erosion reveals a design flaw.
