Arrest made in Transylvania University machete attack on campus

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A person has been arrested for a machete assault on the campus of Transylvania College. 

Authorities say 19-yr-previous Mitchell Adkins was arrested following the assault within the Glenn Constructing. Adkins is considered a former scholar. 

Lexington Police Sgt. Jervis Middleton says Adkins entered the constructing with a bag of “numerous edged weapons.” 

Scholar Tristan Reynolds stated a person entered and stated “the day of reckoning has come,” then requested somebody about their political affiliation. When the reply was Republican, the assailant stated “you’re protected.”

Reynolds stated individuals scattered and campus safety arrived.

Two ladies have been struck with the machete through the assault. One sufferer was taken to the hospital. The opposite sufferer was handled on the scene. Each ladies are anticipated to be okay. 

Transylvania College campus police have been capable of take Adkins into custody following a wrestle. He was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted wounds. 

Police are working to seek out out what motivated the assault. 

Courses have been canceled at Transylvania College following Friday’s assault.
