2 Napa Police Officers Who Fatally Shot Man Armed With Knife Identified


NAPA, Calif. (AP) — The Napa Police Division has recognized two officers who fatally shot a person armed with a knife outdoors a retailer.

The San Francisco Chronicle stories the division recognized the officers Monday as Sgt. Ryan Cole, a 22-yr veteran, and Officer Jack Thomson, a 25-yr veteran who works as a disaster negotiator for the division.

Napa police say the officers shot 23-yr-previous Noel Russell, of Napa, in self-protection.

Officers say quite a few individuals referred to as 911 the night of March thirteen saying a person was strolling round with a knife in his hand and appearing “excessive” or “loopy.”

The officers have been responding to the calls once they encountered the person and fired their weapons at him.

Cole and Thomson have been positioned on paid administrative depart because the Napa County Sheriff’s Workplace evaluations the incident.
